October is the right month to spend relaxing weekends in Tuscany, immersed in the greenery of its lush countryside, in rustic farmhouses, touring the wine cellars.
Precisely of this period, last year, spent 3 days in Scansano. It was a weekend where I condensed everything the place could offer: walks, bike rides, excursions to nearby villages, wellness center and of course wine tastings!
Booked at Antico Casale di Scansano, an oasis of relaxation and wellness immersed in the beautiful unspoiled nature of the Alta Maremma, at the entrance of Scansano. The very suggestive structure presents a varied offer: nature trails in the woods for trekking and mountain biking, horseback riding and a rich wellness center (Indoor Relaxation Pool and Jacuzzi Tubs, Finnish Sauna, Turkish Bath and Etruscan Sauna, Salt Cave and Mediterranean Sauna).
As soon as I arrived on Friday night, I had dinner in the farmhouse restaurant. I tasted the pappardelle with wild boar sauce (I’m crazy about it!) and grilled meat, barbecue meat. All washed down with a bottle of Morellino di Scansano (and I could not choose otherwise!). It was raining outside and I remember that at suddently the electricity went off and we stood by candlelight … a truly romantic atmosphere!
The day after, we walked through the woods and relaxed at the wellness center. In the evening we went to visit the village and we came across the Enoteca Scansanese where we tasted some exquisite wines. The wine shop offers a wide range of local wines and excellent samples of cheeses and cold cuts. It is an obligatory stop for Morellino lovers. In a welcoming environment, with friendly and helpful staff, you can taste, compare and choose various wines, thanks to the “wine tasting” area and be recommended in a friendly way. Absolutely unmissable!
The next day, we rented bikes at the farmhouse and walked around the countryside. The day was sunny and we made a fairly long route. It was really a regenerating tour, in the tranquility of nature.
I recommend a similar weekend to everyone!
